Prague Picture Post…

Tuesday morning saw me getting up very early to do an airport transfer. When this was done, I didn’t feel like going straight home so I ended-up on a tour of the station and Wenseslas Square.

I started off at about 7am in the Kavarna for a coffee and to watch the early morning commuters on their way to work… (and a few all night ravers going home!) As I was having my coffee, a film crew were busy setting up their equipment. It’s amazing just how many films have featured Prague’s main railway station and there are often film crews here.

There was also a very special luxurious train on the platform just outside the Kavarna, so probably that had something to do with the filming..

Incredibly, when I got into Wenseslas Square, within a 30 minute period, the sky went dark, the heavens opened-up and we had torrential rain for the rest of the morning. THEN I went home!

I’m still amazed at the amount of investment going on here in Prague. Everywhere you look, building work is taking place. Either new builds or renovations of old buildings. Everyone seems to be having their apartment building renovated.

A friend of mine has had to endure the most incredible noise levels in his apartment for the past few months as the building next door has had another floor added, taking it even higher. Every morning at about 7am, (even on weekends) the banging, drilling and machinery starts.

Even looking from my terrace this afternoon, you can see new buildings going up in the very far distance…

So much money being spent, but will it make Prague a better place or just more expensive?
